Who We Are

Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) supports children, families, and caregivers so every child can be safe, healthy, and prepared for success. We work to prevent crises whenever possible and provide critical services when families are struggling. Founded in 1902 in Jacksonville, Florida by Reverend D. W. Comstock, CHS is Florida’s longest-serving nonprofit dedicated to children and families. What began as an organization responding to the urgent needs of homeless and orphaned children has evolved into a comprehensive network of services focused on child and family well-being. Today, CHS offers foster care and adoption services, healthy families and in-home support, counseling, youth programs, and Community Partnership Schools. For more than 120 years, we have served hundreds of thousands of children and families across Florida. We believe every child has potential—and we are committed to building a world where children can realize their full potential. We are never satisfied with what is; we continually strive for what can be.

What We Do

Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) provides a wide range of programs and services across the state, including family support and early childhood services, counseling and behavioral health care, foster care and adoption support, and Community Partnership Schools. In the Fort Myers and Collier County area, our primary focus is on healthy families, early childhood programs, and general counseling services, ensuring children and families receive the support they need close to home.
