Who We Are

Our Mission: Eliminate substandard and overcrowded rental housing for farmworker families and other low-income residents of Immokalee. Our Vision: For farmworker families and other low-income residents of Immokalee to have access to secure, affordable, hurricane-resistant rental housing that strengthens the community by fostering health, education, dignity, and financial stability. Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance is focused on helping the hardworking people of Immokalee with quality affordable housing. High rent is the single most significant barrier to overcoming poverty in this region, and in addition to providing new affordable apartment units, this non-profit seeks to advance opportunities for a better quality of life for all residents by offering a sustainable model, providing on-site amenities, and hosting essential services.

What We Do

Our primary effort is the development of a community consisting of 128 affordable two- and three-bedroom rental units. This initiative includes eight 16-unit buildings, with rent limited to 30% of household income to ensure long-term affordability for our residents. The community will feature essential amenities such as a soccer field, playgrounds, and a community center offering early childhood learning, after-school programs, and a computer lab to serve both children and adults. The project has made significant progress, with land purchase, zoning approval, and the infrastructure already completed. We have successfully completed the construction of the first building, which is set to welcome its first residents by the end of 2024. A second building is fully funded, and a third building, supported by the Center for Abused Women and Children, will focus on transitional housing for women and children, they will be both be completed by the end of 2025. Construction will begin on the Community Center as soon as permits are approved. Upon completion, the community will be self-sustaining with rental income covering all costs, including reserves, maintenance and necessary replacements.
